Cool climate truffles grown on a fourth generation, family-owned farm

In 2005, our family planted 80 English oak, French oak and hazlenut trees on the ridge of our property, straddling the Duckmaloi River, a perennial stream east of Shooters Hill, near Oberon NSW.

Our truffles are now enjoyed across the country by those who appreciate the earthy yet subtle aroma of these culinary jewels that thrive in the cool climate beyond the Blue Mountains. The season runs in winter, from June to August, with the other months spent tending to the trees. The truffles start growing in February and March with warm days and cold nights, ripening in the colder months with the frosts and snow.

Simon is ably assisted by Jimmy, a loving and clever kelpie who has honed his skills as a truffle dog. We are often asked if Jimmy eats the truffles. He in fact finds the truffles to receive a different reward - small pieces of cheese. Second assistant, Kombie, the border collie provides moral support.

Book a private truffle hunt and see Jimmy at work (subject to current government health restrictions).
